How to edit your contact form (Forms & Email)
What this covers
Your lead form asks for a name, phone number, email address and message. This page covers who gets each new lead, what visitors see after they send the form, the spam check, and the wording on the form. To see and manage the leads themselves, read Forms & email.
Where to find it
- Log in to your site's WordPress admin.
- In the left menu, click Website Editor.
- Click Global Values. The form fields are part of this tab's list.
Click Save at the bottom of the tab after any change.
Where new leads go
- Lead notification email (optional — defaults to the business email; comma-separate multiple addresses): who gets an email for each new lead. Blank sends it to your business email. If there is no business email, it goes to your WordPress admin email.
- Webhook URL (optional — every form submission is also sent here as JSON): a web address that receives a copy of each lead. The copy holds the visitor's answers, your site address, the time it was sent and a reference number. If the webhook fails, the lead is still saved and emailed.
After a visitor sends the form
Pick one option in After submit:
- Show an inline message: the form shows a "Message sent!" note in place. This is the default.
- Go to the thank-you page: the visitor goes to your page at /thank-you/.
- Redirect to a URL: the visitor goes to the address in Redirect URL. If that box is blank, the inline message shows instead.
The Redirect URL can include these placeholders, which are filled in with the visitor's answers: {submission_first_name}, {submission_last_name}, {submission_name}, {submission_email}, {submission_phone}, {submission_message}.
The thank-you page has its own two fields:
- Thank-you page heading. Blank keeps "Thank You for Contacting Us!".
- Thank-you page message. Blank keeps "We've received your message and will get back to you as soon as possible."
Spam check
- reCAPTCHA v3 spam protection: a switch. Off by default.
- reCAPTCHA site key: the site key from your Google reCAPTCHA account.
- reCAPTCHA secret key (never shown once saved -- leave blank to keep it, or type a new value to replace it): the secret key from the same account. After you save it, the box shows dots. Leave the dots as they are to keep the saved key.
With the switch on, your form loads Google's check using your site key, and your site checks each submission with your secret key. A submission that fails the check is noted in your site's error log. The lead is still saved and sent to you.
Form type and embed code
- Contact form type: Form, Survey or Embed. Survey shows the same form as Form.
- Embed code (used when Contact form type = Embed): code from another form tool. With Embed chosen and code saved, the form card shows your code in place of the lead form.
The Contact form mode setting on the call-to-action page is checked first. If it is set to Embed, its own embed code is shown.

Good to know
- To check your changes, send a test message from your Contact page. Check the button text, what happens after you send it, and that the lead email arrives.
