Find leads: your first search
What this page covers
The Prospects page finds local businesses for one keyword in one location. You enter a keyword and a location, check how many lead credits the search will hold, then run it. The results open in a table you can filter, open row by row, and export.
Where to find it
Click Prospects in the left menu of your dashboard. The line under the page title shows your balance as "N lead credits available".
Step 1: Fill in the search
- Keyword: the kind of business you want, for example a trade name.
- Location: start typing a city or ZIP. Pick one of the suggestions from the list. A typed location that you did not pick from the list does not count.
- To pick from lists instead, click Browse locations instead. Choose a country, then a region, then a city. Long city lists show Load 100 more.
- How many results: 100, 300, 500, or 700. A choice larger than your lead-credit balance is greyed out.
Step 2: Review the search
Click Get Estimate. The Review Your Search card shows the keyword, the location, the result count, and "Lead credits to reserve". That number equals the result count you picked.
Nothing is charged at this step and no search starts. Click Back to change the search.
Step 3: Run the search
Click Run Search. Your dashboard holds lead credits equal to the result count. If your balance is lower than that, the search does not start and the card shows your balance and the amount needed.
See Lead credits for how the hold is settled when the search ends.
Step 4: While it runs
- A ring and a bar show the percent complete.
- The bar shows how many businesses have been found so far.
- If some businesses could not be enriched, a line reads "N failed to enrich (not charged)."
The page checks the search every few seconds. When it finishes, the results table opens on its own. See Results, filters, and exports.
If the search fails, the page goes back to the form and shows an error banner. Credits are charged only for the businesses found before it stopped.
Recent searches
The Recent searches list under the form shows the searches you started. Each row shows the keyword, the location, the result count, a status (Completed, Enriching, or the search's own end status), and how many businesses it found.
Click a row to open it. A finished search opens its results. A running search opens its progress view.
Start another search
On the results view, click New Search. The form clears and the result count goes back to 100.
