How to update your site's tagline and favicon
Your tagline
Your tagline is a short line about your business. Your site uses it as the footer description when Footer blurb is blank, and as the text in the closing band when that band has no text of its own.
Where to set it
You can set it in either of two places. They stay in step with each other.
- Website Editor: in WordPress admin, click Website Editor, then Global Values. Type in Business tagline and click Save.
- WordPress: go to Appearance > Customize > Site Identity and change the tagline there.
A change made in WordPress's own tagline setting is copied into Business tagline. Saving a Business tagline in the Website Editor is copied into WordPress's tagline.
When Business tagline is blank
Your site uses Footer blurb in its place. If that is blank too, it uses WordPress's own tagline.
Your favicon
The favicon is the small icon in the browser tab. It is WordPress's Site Icon, and it is set only in WordPress, not in the Website Editor.
- In WordPress admin, go to Appearance > Customize.
- Open Site Identity.
- Choose your Site Icon image and publish the change.
Good to know
- Your logo is set in Global Values. See business info and design.
- To check the tagline, open your site in a new tab and look at the footer.
