Using the Agent tab after you move your site
Staying on our hosting, on your own domain?
Then this page does not apply. Use the Your own domain card on your site page and click Connect domain once both DNS records are pointed. When the domain is live, your dashboard links and the Site agent switch to it on their own.
This page is for a site moved to another company's server.
Why you need to update the domain
The Site agent edits your site by signing in to its WordPress at the address your dashboard has on record. Until you change that record, it is the address on our hosting. If the site now lives on another host, the agent keeps editing the copy here, and your changes do not show on the new host.
Update it here
- Move the site first. See Moving your site to another host.
- On your site page, click Update it here next to "Migrated to a different domain?".
- Type the new domain without https://, for example
yourdomain.com. The https:// is added for you. - Click Update.
This only changes the record in your dashboard. It does not move or copy the site, and it does not check that the domain works.
What follows the new domain
- View Site and Open WP Admin on your site page.
- The Site agent, including photos you attach in a chat.
- The Connect your own AI agent card and the Reset password button on your site page.
After the update, the line reads "Current domain:" with your domain and a Change link.
Sign-in on the new host
The Site agent signs in with the site's Editor password, shown on the WordPress Access card. If the site on the new host does not accept it, the agent replies "The agent couldn't sign in to your site's WordPress."
Good to know
- To point everything back at our hosting, click Change, then Use our preview host again.
- If the new host or its DNS is not set up, your site page's links and the Site agent cannot reach the site. Fix that with your new host.
